Sauntering along the platform at Morden Station the other evening I happened across a peculiar site.
For there sat amongst the discarded copies of London Metro was one of our gnome friends looking very sorry for himself.
Taking pity I enquired of his well-being. It appears that he had been down the old Gnomes Retreat here in North London with a few of his friends. As the night wore on and the beer flowed little thought did he give to the journey that lay ahead of him.
So several hours later and staggering out into the cold night sky he found his way to the tube station and before long was snuggled down on the warm train heading south. The stations flew by Euston, Angel, Moorgate….. Morden!!!
Here a kindly LT official advised him that the train was terminating and not to leave any personal belongings behind.
Sadly disorientated it was here that I found him, head between his knees looking lost and bewildered.
But a few cheery words and directions he was off on his way…
So if perchance this Christmas you encounter a little gnome on your travels, give him a wave and wish him well and remember…
"It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things, that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good-humour."
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas from all at Epoc
